Smart Watering
By Emily Vignapiano

There was an experiment that was VERY similar to mine. It was done in 2005. It was about efficient lawn watering. It was a two-month experiment done by Richard Himmel at Colorado State University. The outcome was that only 2 participant’s water usage went down and the other 5 went up a LOT!!!!! The average increase was 7,140 gallons.

My project is about watering the grass. In the research I did, I found out a lot of things. I found out that there is an equation for the amount of soil moisture. It is θ = nS. The symbol θ means water content. The symbol n means porosity. The symbol S means saturation.
I also learned that timing for the watering cycles is very important. If you water when the soil is very wet, then the additional water is thereby wasted. If you water when the soil looks dry, it might still be wet underneath. If that’s the case, then the additional water is wasted. If not, the water will not be wasted unless it goes below the root level. Basically, any water that goes below the root level is wasted.
I learned that if the grass has too little water, then the grass will die. If it has too much water, it might die.
I also learned how to measure soil moisture. You measure soil moisture by using a soil moisture sensor. A soil moisture sensor tells you when it’s time to water. You can also measure soil moisture using a soil probe. That gives you a core sample. If the sample is dry, you need to water. If it’s wet, then you don’t. Either way, you still get accurate results.
Hydrology is the study of earth’s water. Ecology is the stuff that happens with organisms and their environment. Ecohydrology is a combined science of hydrology and ecology. The ecohydrological theory is a theory that says things about hydrology and ecohydrology like space and time issues.

How permanent are permanent markers? What solvents (e.g., water, alcohol, vinegar, detergent solution) will remove the ink? Do different brands/types of markers produce the same results?
so i'd start with marksalot and a sharpie, & wood and skins. see what removes the ink.

trever interview a scientist
wegener interview
me: hello Mr.wegner thanks for being on my show.
wegener: no problem
me: so what is your theory called
wegener: its called continental drift
me: can you explain it
wegener:sure Continental drift is when the continents slowly move across the earths surface
me: was this always what scientist excepted
wegener: no
me: so what was the theory before yours
wegener: before my theory scientists thought thew earth was shrinking and cooling.
me: how does that explain landforms though
wegener: land form were like wrinkles on the earth because they viewed the crust like skin and when it shrank it wrinkled
me when did the scientist finally except your theory.
wegener: around the 1950s
me: when did you first propose this idea
wegner: in 1912
me: why didn't anyone else believe you
wegner: i couldnt demonstrate a mechanism for it.

Michael M - Volcano Death
Chapter 1: Last days
I can tell today was going to be a really cool day finally going to graduate from high school and finally going to college no more kid activity’s ,like going on field trips, being in high school and not being able to say crap. Finally growing up being called an adult just can’t wait to its 3:00!! But for now just have to deal with all my immature family.
“Graduation day”!! Screams the teenagers as they run all over town.
Chapter 2: The new house
Its already been 3 years since I’ve been gone from home and I already miss those crazy parents. At lease I have my own house and live in Hawaii, the nicest place in the world…for me at lease. “Come on taco”, as I call my pet boxer. As I go to the dog beach I see a group of people screaming, “RUN!!”. At that time I knew something was wrong.
Chapter 3: The Hospital
As I heard everyone screaming I still walked over to see what the fuse was all about as I run to see the other side I look up and see a life guard tower fall over my head landing on me……………………
The Next Day…..
“Get me the knife”, Says the doctor. “Where am I ?”, I said while in excruciating pain. Then I feel asleep….3hours later……While checking out of the hospital I walked out then drove home. The doctor said I needed to rest and that I might not make it. I look in the mirror and new I wasn’t going to survive.
Chapter 4: Bad Days
Every night I’d have the same dream of me dead but under the sea it’s already been a year since the Hawaii disaster I thought I might make it but ended up not…Next the cops find me dead then they here, “HUUU!!”, then water explodes out of my mouth…..
To be continued…..

You are the lava in my soul
You make my volcano
Explode. Sometimes I am dome
And active when you make me mad you
Take my ashes. My lava is burning like
Melted rocks of fire when I am sad you
Make me glad when I have a big mess you make
I turn to a volcano
Your are the lava in my soul you make
Me lose control sometimes I want to
Explode. When I am worried my
Ashes go away and make turn to
Stone of a volcano you make my soul
Treble like a earthquake when
My feelings are hurt I share like
Two plates trembling
Together
When I am nervous the world shakes
Because the plates separate sometimes
I am dome and then I explode when
I am active you hear me tremble the
Mountains shake when I stop the floor with
My feet when I dance volcanoes explode
Magma, magma, magma, magma
